In domestic news, controversy is surrounding the St. Patricks Day Parade in the New York City borough of Staten Island. The State Island St. Patrick's Day Parade has barren the LGBTQ Center of Staten Island from march on Saint Patricks Day, the Irish American holiday honoring Saint Patrick. This discrimination based on sexual orientation is an attack on gay rights and gay life according to LGBTQ advocates. The group has been barred from marching in the State Island parade since 2011.
